# Latest Release Has Incorrect Version

When building from the [latest release](https://github.com/elastic/beats/archive/v6.5.4.tar.gz), the output of `filebeat version` is `filebeat version 6.5.5 (amd64), libbeat 6.5.5`, not the expected `6.5.4`

Hi @TheDarkula 🙂

The output version of a branch will never match an already released version so their semver cannot match either.

If you build `master` branch you'll actually get `filebeat version 7.0.0 (amd64)` so maybe I'm not understanding your problem properly.

I'm a bit confused, because I'm not using a branch, I'm using a tagged release (6.5.4).
