# Logstash 7.4 Input file for .log files not working in windows

Attempting to create logfile dashboard in Kibana via ELK.

Tried simple STDIN which worked and was able to see the data on Kibana as well.

where as file input option not working in windows, especially .log files .  
I would appreciate any help here and below is the code snippet

input {  
file {  
path =\> "C:/Users/logs/applicationlog.2019-08-14/application.log.2019-08-14.log"  
start\_position =\> "beginning"  
sincedb\_path =\> "NUL"  
}  
}

filter {  
grok {  
match =\> {  
"message" =\> "%{TIMESTAMP\_ISO8601:timestamp}%{SPACE}"  
}

```
    }

```

}

output {  
elasticsearch  
{  
hosts =\> ["localhost:9200"]  
index =\> "logs-%{+YYYY.MM.dd}"  
}

stdout { codec =\> rubydebug }  
}

If the file input is not reading the file try enabling log.level TRACE.

Thank you for quick response .

The issue was on my end, file type was not saved as .log on test region. it works now
