# Logstash import date

hello, i want to pass a field ("datetime") as date with this format 1/19/21 12:00 so i add in the conf file the following :

```auto

date {						 
					match => ["datetime", "MM/dd/yy HH:mm"]  
					
					target => "Dateread"
					
				}

```

but elastic search cant understand the field Dateread as date, what can i do?
