# Machine Learning shown as unavailable

Hello,

I did a fresh installation of 6.4.1.  
The Machine Learning option is not available in Kibana. Trying `GET /_xpack` I see that `ml` is enabled but not available:

```
"ml": {
  "description": "Machine Learning for the Elastic Stack",
  "available": false,
  "enabled": true,
  "native_code_info": {
    "version": "6.4.1",
    "build_hash": "1df3104bc26648"
  }

```

What might be the cause of this unavailability?

If you look at our [subscriptions page](https://www.elastic.co/subscriptions), you can see that Machine Learning requires either a Trial or Platinum license. It is therefore not available with the free Basic license. If you want to try it out, you can enable a Trial license from Kibana.
