# Manually creating mappings from existing index templates?

Hi,

I'm using index templates to help generate mappings for similar types. This works great when creating a brand new index, but I will need to manually add new types to the same index in the future (dynamic mapping is disabled).

Is there a way to include fields from index templates when explicitly creating a new mapping?
