As noted in [Many Apache servers on one machine?](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/many-apache-server-on-one-machine/186386), the [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/configuration-filebeat-modules.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/configuration-filebeat-modules.html) documentation says using modules is optional and that I can configure these manually. Yet there is no documentation that tells me what the modules do so that I can apply this manually.

If I wanted to manually reproduce what the [Apache module](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filebeat-module-apache.html) does, how would I go about that?
