Hey all,

When you first index a document, is it possible to give it an "initial"
internal version number? I'm hoping to make use of these version numbers,
but just discovered that they're lost when you re-index (via, for instance,
the Python client's elasticsearch.helpers.reindex(...) method).

Thank you!
Nick

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but did you look at external
versions? [Elasticsearch Platform — Find real-time answers at scale | Elastic](http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docs-index_.html#_version_types)
