# Mapping Location By Mailing Address

Is it possible to map a location by it's mailing address or does Kibana only map by lat/long coordinates?

It is not currently possible to geo code, convert an address into a lat/lon, with Elastic Stack. At ingest, you could try using an external geocoding API to tag your documents with lat/lon.

Would you mind creating an [issue](https://github.com/elastic/kibana/issues/new?assignees=&labels=&template=Feature_request.md). Can you please include a describe of your use case and how you would like to use geocoding within the Elastic Stack. What does your data look like? What types of questions are you trying to answer?

Ya, that was my first go to, researching some sort of API that would let me convert an address to lat/long, I didn't find anything that was free.
