Hey guys. Is there a maximum request size that ES can handle?

HTTP wise, there is a limit of 100mb (you can change it using the http.max\_content\_length setting). Otherwise, there isn't, but, be careful not to overload the server.

Can this setting be updated dynamically? It doesn't look that way:

$ curl -XPUT localhost:9200/\_cluster/settings -d '{

$ curl -XGET localhost:9200/\_cluster/settings?pretty=1
{
"persistent" : { },
"transient" : { }

```
  }
}
```

}
}

Try setting it in transient instead of persistent.

Persistent settings are usually read from the config file only.

@mark thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. Same results, no dice.
