# Minimum\_should\_match and partial word matching 5.x does not work

Hows does [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/current/ngrams-compound-words.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/current/ngrams-compound-words.html) work with 5.x?

the ngram filter does actually work, but if I setup a query I want a minimum match of found ngrams otherwise I would get lots of useless documents in the result.

Actually the minimum\_should\_match just gets ignored with 5.2.2, this worked with 2.x very well.
