# MongoDB input plugin

Since the last discussion thread about using MongoDB dates end of 2016, I would like to know whether there is any news about a "native" MongoDB input plugin for Logstash.

Or is the plugin to use still the one to be found at [https://github.com/phutchins/logstash-input-mongodb](https://github.com/phutchins/logstash-input-mongodb) ?

If the answer to the above question is YES, is there any reason why there is no native MongoDB input plugin? Is this way of working not the right way maybe ?
