# Monitoring elastic search retention period not working

Hi Team,
We have enabled monitoring on cloud.elastic server which is dedicated monitoring server.
We have added following setting on monitoring server.
`xpack.monitoring.history.duration` we set it as '1d' still the older indexes were not removed automatically.
It is not working as expected and disk is getting filled with data and after couple of week server is getting restarted/stopped, how can we solve this issue?

What is your current license level for the monitoring cluster on Elastic Cloud?

Unfortunately, the basic license does not include this feature.
