Hi 🙂

my synonyms file has currently only explicit and equivalent synonyms with only one word.

Can elasticsearch handle multi word synonyms?
E.g.: `this is a sentence, another one, something else => fancy stuff, such great synonyms, much difficult`

I found some documentations but these dont include synonyms in files and i just wanted to be sure before i am going to edit the file.

Best Regards 🖐
Ahmet

Hi Ahmet,

good question. Multi-token synonyms are supported but were always a bit tricky. See [https://www.elastic.co/blog/multitoken-synonyms-and-graph-queries-in-elasticsearch](https://www.elastic.co/blog/multitoken-synonyms-and-graph-queries-in-elasticsearch) for quite a good overview. Nowerdays I think using [Synonym Graph Token Filter](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/analysis-synonym-graph-tokenfilter.html) at search time is the thing to start with. This also has some documentation about the suported file format.
