# Need help ELK Gurus?

How do we design the size of elastic database?  
Is there a way to control the data being stored by elastic database?  
How to see the types of logs (stdout, stderr) being stored in elastic database?  
How to control the log types being collected by elastic search?  
Is there a way to limit the log types and limit the size of the elastic database?

Look at [ILM](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/index-lifecycle-management-api.html) to control data volumes and retention.
