# Nested document indexing performance \[How to improve\]

Hi,

This is my first post to ES group.

As requirement demand, I have created nested document to full fill my need.  
I have experienced _major time consuming_ on indexing _nested document_. I  
have single node for this test.

Is any way i can improve performance of indexing of Nested document?

Hello and welcome!

I don't think there's any tuning you can do specifically for nested  
documents, so I guess you have to look at options that improve your  
indexing performance in general.

Take a look at this thread for some other ideas:

If you just need a few specific tips to start with, I'd first look at:

- bulk indexing: [Elastic — The Search AI Company | Elastic](http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/reference/api/bulk.html)
- refresh interval (which is the interval at which ES makes indexed docs  
available for search - and the operation is quite expensive):
