# Network bytes per second

Hi,

I was looking at how I can report the byte/second that an interface doing on a server.  
When I look at metricbeat.network bytesin or bytesout , those are just ever increasing values until the counter is reset. How can I calculate the bytes/sec in kibana or somewhere else?

You can use the Timelion plugin in Kibana with the derivative. It will give you bytes / timeperiod.
