I see in the docs various mentions of the use of EL (expression language) in document metadata, using ognl, velocity, etc. I'm very much a learn by example kinda guy, but can't seem to find any documentation showing use of EL in indexing/searching operations. So any links or pointers would be very much appreciated. Regards, Darryl ---

For the most part, they are the same as for Lucene: [http://lucene.apache.org/java/3\_0\_2/queryparsersyntax.html](http://lucene.apache.org/java/3_0_2/queryparsersyntax.html) although there are a couple of custom features in master, ie: - "_missing_:field" - "_exists_:field" See [Query DSL: Query String \_missing\_ and \_exists\_ syntax · Issue #446 · elastic/elasticsearch · GitHub](http://github.com/elasticsearch/elasticsearch/issues/issue/446) for details clint ---
