in the default elasticsearch.yml file I see there is a node.rack
configuration parameter:

_# A node can have generic attributes associated with it, which can later
be used_
_# for customized shard allocation filtering, or allocation awareness. An
attribute_
_# is a simple key value pair, similar to node.key: value, here is an
example:_
_#_
_#node.rack: rack314_

but when I read the document there is only a node.rack\_id parameter:

_[http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-cluster.html](http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-cluster.html)
 [http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-cluster.html](http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-cluster.html)_

so , is there any different between them ? or they are just the same ?

It doesn't matter, the value after "node." is just an arbitrary label.
