# Parent-child query performance on ES 5.x

Per [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/current/parent-child-performance.html#\_global\_ordinals\_and\_latency](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/current/parent-child-performance.html#_global_ordinals_and_latency)

Parent-child query is 5 - 10 times slower than nested query.

Since this guide is for ES 2.x, I am wondering if ES 5.x has improvement on parent-child query?
