# Per category email notifications of new topics

Apologies if this has been covered. I did search a significant amount before deciding to create a topic for the question.
In my **Preferences** , I can put a list of **Categories** in _Watching First Post Only_, and this will result in my getting the notifications that I want (one for each new **Topic** in my chosen **Categories** ), but I can't figure out how to cause those to be _email_ notifications.
Is this possible?

I see, you have "Send me an email when someone quotes me, replies to my post, mentions my @username, or invites me to a topic" unticked.
If you tick that, you will get these notifications, they are coupled to that option.
