# Population

My doubt is, How do I will populate the IPs with their correct lat/long to call the heat map correctly?

Info: I just have the IP of my client when he/her open the e-mail and I get the lat/long.

The geoip filter looks up IP addresses and turns them into lat/lon tuples.

How can I use this geoip filter?

Did you look at the [documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/plugins-filters-geoip.html)? As it states the only mandatory option is `source` and I think the meaning of that option is well documented.
