# Predefined boost scores

Hi

I found the documentation which says one should use boost queries to enable boosting. But is there a way to specify the boost scores inside the index so that the clients don't have to specify on each call ?

Hi, Venkatram.  
Check out the [script score](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/query-dsl-script-score-query.html) query to boost based on arbitrary properties of documents.
