# Prevent deletion of index

HI,  
'I am using elasticsearch in ubuntu server , how to prevent deletion of indices. Basically i want to limit the user activity, if a user is not allowed than should not be able to delete index.

I have seen this post "[How to prevent other people from deleting index?](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/how-to-prevent-other-people-from-deleting-index/7819)". But i am not able to get elasticsearch-jetty to work on ubuntu server.

@daddonet , please if you could help .

The security feature (under elastic commercial license) provides that feature.  
I'd recommend that you give it a try with the trial which will gives you 30 days of trial.
