# Prevent logstash from reading file from beginning when restarted

Hi everyone,

I don't understand why Logstash does not continue reading a file from where it left off when restarted.

Following is my input plugin configuration:

input {  
file{  
path=\>"/data/backup/recovery-data/QUICKSEARCH\_CDR\_2019.12.23.csv"  
mode=\>"read"  
file\_completed\_action=\>"log"  
file\_completed\_log\_path=\>"/data/backup/logs/december/23"  
}  
}
