# Publish Address vs Bind Address

Right now I show my bind address as 192.168.1.242:9200, which is what I expected. What I did not expect was to see a publish address of 192.168.1.242:9300. What is the publish address used for and why is the port different? Do I need to open port 9300 via my firewall?
