# Query Elastic APM Data for Custom Dashboard

As our company's Elastic Cloud admin (v8.6.2), I have some users who would EITHER like to include a component from the Obervability-\>APM Overview as part of a custom dashboard OR build a similar visualization from APM data for the dashboard, which can then be linked back to the APM dashboard as a drilldown.
However, I have not been able to determine how to do this for anything except for the `apm.error` data set. I can't even determine in what data streams or indices Elastic APM stores the data.
How can this be done?

The APM data is in the following data streams:
> traces-apm-\*
Creating a data view with that index pattern will allow you to build custom dashboards against it.
