# Read files from local directory and Build Index

Hi,

I have configured my Linux (CentOS) server to collect logs from different sources and stores then in defined directories. Elastic search package is installed on the same server.

How can I configure elasticsearch read the logs from those directories and build index such that I can see on Kibana?

Elasticsearch never reads any data from any source.

Have a look at filebeat.
