# Reduce fetching data time from elasticsearch

Hi,  
I write java code using rest client to fetch data but it is not fast as I need.  
How should I increase performance and get data faster.

What did you do?  
What is "not fast"?  
What is the "took" field saying if you are running `_search` API?
