# Regarding Gateway Module and Zone Awareness

Hi,  
Can someone explain how the gateway module attribute "gateway.expected\_data\_nodes" and forced zone awareness interact? Should "expected\_data\_nodes" always be set to a value lower than the number of data nodes in a single zone?

In short, do these settings impact one another in any way?
