# Remove unnecessary apm fields

Hello team,

Apm agent inserts to Elasticsearch many fields that I don't need, is there any way to remove those fields?

Hi @Hong_Phuoc_Cao,

You have a couple of options:

- Define an ingest node pipeline: [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/server/current/configuring-ingest-node.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/server/current/configuring-ingest-node.html). In the pipeline you could use the [remove processor](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/7.3/remove-processor.html) to remove fields you're not interested in.
- Define processors in the APM Server configuration: [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filtering-and-enhancing-data.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filtering-and-enhancing-data.html). Similar to above, you could use [drop\_fields](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/drop-fields.html).

Out of curiosity, which of the fields that you are not interested in?
