# Rename Kibana space id

Hi,
I want to rename space name and id in Kibana. I noticed that using update API we can rename the space but not the space id. And if I rename the space, the dashboard title still displays the space id. So my question is why do we have the space id display in title and not the space name?

Hi @pranay_jain
I believe it is not possible, because the documentation states: You cannot change the space identifier once you create the space.

A workaround is to create another space with the name you prefer and migrate the saved objects from the existing space.
