# Reporting timeout

Generating a PDF report in canvas fails when the report is too big. Tried increasing timeout without success. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

@millie123 what is the error message? What was the reporting timeouts that you've tried to change? There are a couple of them as you can see at [Reporting settings in Kibana | Kibana Guide [7.15] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/reporting-settings-kb.html)

I had same problem for a canvas with a vega visualisation.  
Upgrading Elasticsearch from 7.12 to 7.14.2 the problem has been solved.  
Before to update, I tried increasing timeout and increasing RAM assigned to Kibana, but without success.....  
I hope my experience could help you....

Error message is as follows:

Unable to generate report  
Error: Max attempts (3) reached for job kw3cs0wn001o82f1600vmxgr. Failed with: TimeoutError: Timeout has occurred

The reporting timeout changed was: xpack.reporting.queue.timeout

@cpu - thanks for suggestion, running 7.14 already!
