# Request latency

Hello, I am trying to display latency related with a request to a backend (endpoint). For instance, I search the endpoint (backend) and I want to display average latency for that endpoint. How can I do it?

There's not a lot of info here to go off so I am going to start at the very beginning, but you will need to use something like Heartbeat to [ping the endpoint](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/heartbeat/current/monitor-http-options.html) and send that data to Elasticsearch. Then you can use the [included dashboards](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/heartbeat/current/heartbeat-installation-configuration.html#setup-assets) to view that data.
