# Restart the Logstash 8.8 configuration without restarting it

Is there a way to reload the Logstash 8.8 configuration without restarting it?

Yes, this is [documented](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/reloading-config.html). You can use SIGHUP on UNIX or automatically restart after configuration changes on Windows.

Also, you are running it as a service on Linux you can just add these two lines on `logstash.yml`

```auto
config.reload.automatic: true
config.reload.interval: 30s

```

This needs a restart to work for the first time, but after that it will check the configuration files and `pipelines.yml` every 30s and will reload them if any change is detected.
