Hi Team,

I am wondering if we can restore data from a snapshot that matches a query.

This i am doing because i have a snapshot of about 96gb stored in custom S3 repository. There was a policy applied and the storage class got changed to Glacier.

It is now restored and i am unable to get the \_status of the snapshot. Getting a error as aws\_exception.

But i would just like to try by restoring a small data from that snapshot. I cannot delete the snapshot as i have important data in it.

Kindly assist here please?

Regards

Kaushik V

Hi @kaushik.vankayala

there is no way of restoring by query I'm afraid. The finest level of granularity the snapshot API offers is restoring specific indices from the snapshot as is documented [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/snapshots-restore-snapshot.html).
