# Restore kibana from a snapshot

Hi,  
Is it possible to just restore the `.kibana` system index from a snapshot?

This is in the event that, through human error, an alert is modified and we wish to restore the original without losing other data that may have been loaded to other indexes.

Yes, its possible to restore Kibana from a snapshot . [Tutorial: Snapshot and Restore | Kibana Guide [8.11] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/snapshot-restore-tutorial.html)
