# Safe restart of clustered

I need some help for the safe restart of elasticsearch. I found this article in the forums `https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/guide/current/_rolling_restarts.html`. I am looking for an alternative way to restart clustered nodes to avoid running shards failing.

Read [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/restart-upgrade.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/restart-upgrade.html). Just skip steps 5 and 6.
