# Save data in elasticsearch for all indices without any mapping

I have created an [issue](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/issues/22740).

As per the conversation in issue I have to have a mapping. Is it possible to just dump the data into elasticsearch without any mapping and dynamic mapping as false.

Hi Alkesh26,

No, you cannot dump data into Elasticsearch without a mapping. Elasticsearch has  
to know what format the data is in so that it can be correctly analyzed and  
stored during indexing. Even if you do not provide a mapping, ES will attempt to  
guess as best it can what type each field is.
