# SearchType in ElasticSearch search Query

Hi Guys,

it's my first post here on this group so feel free to make me aware of the  
guidelines if any.

My query is regarding the SearchType QueryAndFetch  
[http://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/1.5/search-request-search-type.html#query-and-fetch](http://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/1.5/search-request-search-type.html#query-and-fetch).  
As far as I understand this is not recommended for end-user use as  
mentioned in the  
document referred. However, this turns out to be the most performant  
setting for us ( All our shards are on the same node) and this is returning  
correct results as well. So both from performance and correctness stand  
point I find it to be the most compelling choice.

I want to understand why exactly is it not recommended then.
