**Security for Elasticsearch is now free!**

We’re making core Elasticsearch security features more accessible for all. TLS encryption, file-based and native realm authentication, and role-based access control are now free under our Basic license.

We are announcing this change in conjunction with [the announcement and alpha release of Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK)](https://www.elastic.co/blog/introducing-elastic-cloud-on-kubernetes-the-elasticsearch-operator-and-beyond), the official Kubernetes Operator for Elasticsearch and Kibana. ECK is designed to automate and simplify how Elasticsearch is deployed and operated in Kubernetes.
