# Set Custom analyzer as default

Hello together,

i'm new on elasticsearch server and i want to set my server to use whitespace analyzer with lowercase as default analyzer for my index.

configuration (which is not working) looks like

"settings" : {
  "index" : {
    "number_of_shards" : "5",
    "provided_name" : "testindex",
    "creation_date" : "1548672010620",
    "analysis" : {
      "analyzer" : {
        "default" : {
          "type" : "whitespace",
