# Set default index with curl command - Error from Elastic

Hi,

I am using Elasticsearch 7.0.1 and I am trying to set an index as default with the below command:

curl '_ **ip** _\_:5601/api/kibana/settings'   
-H 'kbn-version: 7.0.1'   
-H 'Content-Type: application/json'   
--data-binary '{"changes":{"defaultIndex":"979390d0-3def-11ea-ad1f-5b09c073c7d3"}}'   
--compressed

and I get :  
{"message":"blocked by: [FORBIDDEN/12/index read-only / allow delete (api)];: [cluster\_block\_exception] blocked by: [FORBIDDEN/12/index read-only / allow delete (api)];","statusCode":403,"error":"Forbidden"}

I read this

Could you please help with this?
