# Setting up e-mail account(s) on the fly for Watcher alerts

Hi all!
I always try to comb through all documentation, but there are some things that I can't find out without testing. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to setup a testing environment and don't want to risk the production 😕
I'd like to set up an e-mail for watcher to use, but in the future I'll need more modification in the elastic setup. I really don't want to restart the ES just for this. If I use the 'Settings' API does it mean that the modification will be live and I don't need to worry about restart?
If so could somebody help what to put in the XPUT object if I need to insert a Gmail account? [ES Guide](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/actions-email.html#gmail)

Hey,
right now accounts are configured statically in the `elasticsearch.yml` file - however we are planning to integrate some sort of Notification API allowing you to configure accounts via the REST API.
