I am endeavoring to comprehend what shard and copy is in [Elasticsearch](https://tekslate.com/elasticsearch-training), however I don't figure out how to comprehend it. In the event that I download Elasticsearch and run the content, at that point from what I know I have begun a bunch with a solitary hub. Presently this hub (my PC) have 5 shards (?) and a few imitations (?).

What are they, do I have 5 copies of the record? In the event that so why? I could require some clarification

You have an index that is broken into 5 parts. Those 5 parts will only live on your laptop.
If you had another laptop and then joined that one to the cluster on your existing laptop, then those shards would be spread around.
