# Sharing scripted fields across indexes

Hi,  
Is it possible that a scripted field created in one index be used in another index or does it need to be recreated? Thanks

Hey! the scripted and the runtime fields are connected with the index pattern where they were created so yes this means that you have to re-create it. 🙂
