# Skip unavailable cluster

Is there any way to do this in version 5.6 of elasticsearch?

I'm guessing you're talking about this in the context of cross cluster search ([`skip_unavailable`](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/modules-cross-cluster-search.html#_skipping_disconnected_clusters) setting, for those that may stumble on this post later), which was added in version 6.1 via [this](https://github.com/elastic/elasticsearch/pull/27182) pull request. You could just stand up a single v6.1 or above CCS node to talk to 5.6 clusters though, if that's an option for you. You may also be interested in watching the [What's Evolving in Elasticsearch talk from Elastic{ON}](https://www.elastic.co/elasticon/conf/2018/sf/whats-evolving-in-elasticsearch) where Simon talked about this starting at about 12 minutes and 50 seconds in and continuing for about 2 minutes.
