# Slow Ingestion

Hi Team,

          We added a data node in current elasticsearch cluster , currently the shards are getting relocated, i want know because of this whether the ingestion process gets slow

Relocating shards will cause additional nework traffic and disk I/O. This is typically throttled to not affect the cluster noticably, but if you have slow disk or limited network I guess it could impact performance. Are you seeing a slowdown? Do you have monitoring enabled?

Thanks for the response @Christian_Dahlqvist

yes we are facing slowdown while indexing the data in elasticsearch, before we didnt faced this issue ,after adding the nodes to cluster we are facing this issue. But the cluster health is good.  
I always see "relocating\_shards" : 2 while checking the cluster health.  
Sorry we didnt enabled the monitoring.
