# Snapshot restore doesnt restore ANALYZED

I recently restored a snapshot.  
I notice the flag ANALYZED is present in the restored data.

Do I really need to re-establish that the field should be NOT ANALYZED?  
Why doesn't the restore restore the data with NOT ANALYZED in tact?

No, it should come back as-is.

What version of ES was the snapshotted index created on? My suspicion is that the mapping was inconsistent before it was snapshotted and therefore you're getting back what _happened_ to be there.

- Elasticsearch: 2.0.0 to 2.3.1

- Kibana: 4.0 to 4.5

- logstash: 2.0.0 to 2.3.1

Here is the mapping I used:

```auto
curl -XPOST http://localhost:9200/member_type_history -d '{
  "mappings" : {
    "Member Type" : {
      "properties" : {
        "Member Type" : {
          "type" : "string",
          "index" : "not_analyzed"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}'

```
