Hello,

Is it possible to make snapshots to network file system? We have 5 nodes in
our elasticsearch cluster. We think about making snapshots to nfs but we
see in our current snapshot location on nodes are files with same names and
we don't know if that will be problem for ES.

Hi,

Using a shared filesystem such as NFS is indeed fine. Please see [1]. Don’t worry about naming conflicts among the files, the snapshotting process is smart enough to do the right thing.

Note that, for disaster recovery, you can also snapshot off-premise to, for instance, an S3 bucket.

Cheers,
Andrew
