# Sniffing error: Read Error - Installing Packebeat on Windows

Hi Community,
I'm trying to install Packetbeat on Windows and I have followed all instruction from [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/packetbeat/current/packetbeat-installation.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/packetbeat/current/packetbeat-installation.html). It seems functioning of the packetbeat is proper, however when I look to the logs "C:\ProgramData\packetbeat\Logs" the error " **2016-09-20T12:12:58+02:00 CRIT Sniffer main loop failed: Sniffing error: Read Error**" occurs.
I've installed also WinPCap. When I look to the services.msc the packetbeat is working. So I assume that the problem is in WinPCap, or am I wrong ? How to get rid of that error and allow a proper connection to ELK server ?
P.S.
When I follow the instructions from the page but on Linux everything is fine and is working properly.
